Mission statement: The goal of The Harbor Counseling is to get you to feeling more like the self you envision.
Experience: Ben has experience working with many traditionally underserved populations. In working with those who suffer from Substance Abuse, for example, compassion and understanding go much further than making demands or being judgemental. Working with someone who understands the nuances of family dynamics and conflict and how self-esteem and emotions can influence behavior is paramount. In some cases, challening what we, or others think is most important to beginning to heal. Ben has experience treating these dynamics, including adults with relationship conflicts, anxiety, depression and overall dissatisfaction with the direction of their lives. Ben has a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University and a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University. Ben is passionate about learning about behavior and social psychology, and even has a Master's degree in Philosophy from Louisiana State University. Ben is certified in DBT and Resiliency Training and has a psychodynamic approach to healing. Ben utilizes what is called an emotion-focused therapeutic approach toward couples in conflict. Ben also recognizes the importance of trauma-informed care.
